What songs make up the soundtrack to your life? From Hammerstein's Carousel Waltz, Silvestri and Custer's Forrest Gump Suite, and Ford's Video Game Live Suite, Take Five with us and enjoy these pieces and others by Beethoven, Williams, and Elgar in March as we pay homage to the Rhythms of Life!
The Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville will present "Rhythms of Life," a celebration of life's triumphant moments, March 9 at The Potter's House International Ministries and March 10, at North Florida School of Special Education.
Like all Civic Orchestra performances, both concerts will be free and family-friendly. The concerts will last about 60 minutes. The NFSSE performance will be an outdoor, all-abilities concert.
Both performances will feature a variety of pieces to acknowledge and celebrate the stages of life, from infancy to adolescence to the senior years. Pieces will include Grace Williams "Fantasia on Welsh Nursery Tunes," Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance No. 1" and Beethoven's "Symphony No. 5, (Mvmt 4)." A highlight for teens will be the "Video Games Live Suite" arranged by Ralph Ford.
Dr. Marguerite Richardson will conduct.
"These pieces speak to the tender moments in our lives," said Nadine Terk, Orchestra founder and board president. "I'm also pleased to hold our second sensory sensitivity performance at the North Florida School of Special Education to make this music accessible to listeners of all abilities."
The March 9, 2024 concert will be at 4 p.m. at The Potter's House International Ministries, 5119 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. The March 10, 2024 concert will be at 4 p.m. at the North Florida School of Special Education, 223 Mill Creek Road, Jacksonville, FL 32210.
