Performers from all walks of life bring their energy and life experiences to this rich performance, celebrating 30 years of sharing the ancient art form of Japanese Taiko ensemble drumming with communities throughout Arizona. The heart of Taiko is expression of self, support of community and integrity of interpretation. "re/Kindle" delves into Fushicho Daiko's expansive repertoire of the ancient and the new, from Shinto shrine melodies to original songs. The performers interpret and breathe life and meaning into each drumbeat, sharing their joy, energy and power in an unforgettable musical and theatrical experience.

Fushicho Daiko Dojo was founded in 1992 by Esther Vandecar upon her return from studying Taiko for 7 years in Japan. Led by Eileen Morgan, a performing member since 1994 and director since 2011, Fushicho Daiko is based in Phoenix, Arizona and provides Taiko Drumming workshops and classes for all ages at their downtown studio as well as performances, residencies and in-services for schools, communities, and businesses throughout Arizona. Continual study in Japan with distinguished teachers, groups and studios ensure that Fushicho Daiko Dojo can proudly present and share authentic, dynamic Taiko ensemble drumming.
