You may be wondering what happened to the Sunflower & Pickle Festival. "Well, we had every intention of having a full sunflower field on October 1st, but the sunflowers had other plans," said Marlene Knight, owner of The Cottage Farm Stand & Baking Co. She added, "The sunflowers were in full bloom early September and gone a few short weeks later. The Sunflower Seed & Pickle Festival doesn't have the same appeal, so we're switching it up and having the Pumpkin & Pickle Festival instead."

The Pumpkin & Pickle Festival is on October 1st, and 2nd from 9 am to 4 pm each day. There should be plenty of food available on both days. Attendees can purchase Owensburgers™, fried pickles, pickle-stuffed Kolaches, pickle ice pops, pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin spice lattes, slushies, and more. Of course, there will be lots of canned pickled items too. "We are excited to announce that Brew Bridge will be bringing Pickle Beer to the festival. This is a first for us," Knight said.

In addition to all the pumpkin and pickle-themed food, there will be about 80 vendors. "We've been featuring our vendors on our Facebook and Instagram accounts and hope to feature all of them before the big day. There are so many talented artisans and creative people that will be exhibiting. Many of them were at the Strawberry Festival in June. It makes me happy to see the community come out to support them," Knight said.

There will also be a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, plenty of pumpkins to purchase, and the corn maze will be open. Knight said, "Our corn maze is about five acres, and there's a game of 10 mailboxes with questions and a prize at the end. The corn maze is open now. We're staying open until 6 pm Fridays and Saturdays through October, so you don't have to wait until the festival to do that."

"We want to constantly provide our customers with great food and entertainment for the whole family," Knight said. "We have this great outdoor space and want everyone to enjoy it."

There will be a $5 per-car fee (cash only), and food will be available to purchase.
