According to the Federal Trade Commission estimates, in 2023 criminal scammers stole $158.3 billion from Americans. Of that amount, money stolen from older adults likely totaled $61.5 billion.

AARP Virginia is focused on empowering individuals with the tools they need to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from scams and fraud. That includes family caregivers. Knowing when or if a loved one is being targeted can be hard because you aren’t always with them and might not know where their money is going. 

Join us for a live, interactive webinar focused on how loved ones can spot, stop and report fraud. We'll also discuss how to talk to your loved one if you think they are involved in or have been the victim of a fraud, as well as support available for victims and/or their loved ones. There will be time for live Q and A. 

Our featured guest will be Rory Macleod, who learned his mother was a repeat fraud victim after she passed away from cancer. While he never had the chance to speak with her about her experience, Rory has spent the last few years understanding how fraud works by talking with fraud experts and victims. He will share those insights during the webinar.
