#POWERFEST is an event that is made for Northside community members, by members in the community. It is an event for families and neighbors to come together and join the environmental justice movement by being part of co-creating a new story.

How does that happen? We’re weaving a new story through art, movement, and the sharing of wisdom and opportunities so that we may heal, play, and be in better relation to one another and the land that we’re on!
This is a grassroots’ organized event being hosted at North Commons Park, with the intention of bringing North Minneapolis community members and organizations together to connect, ground, celebrate, learn, and claim our collective power, all while getting connected with renewable energy and movement resources through the lens of climate justice.

Here’s what you can expect to see at #PowerFest2021:

Morning Yoga, Call to Ancestors, and grounding workshop with Kenna from Voice of Culture
Ancestor Call: To the NORTH, to the SOUTH, to the EAST, to the WEST, to the ANCESTORS we THANK YOU: ASHE ASHE (touch the ground *Dakota Makoce* and think of ancestor, stand and say their name: ASHE!). Facilitated by Voice of Culture.

AfroYoga: A mix of intentional breath, Afro dance and poses and postures from Yoga. Led by Kenna.

Grounding Rituals: We are on Dakota/Ojibwe/Native American land. The rituals are designed to ground us in the truth and help us work toward justice, decolonization, and respect.
Tangible Collective, devoted to “Creating spaces devoted to black Millennial thought and expression”, will have events throughout the day.
