Portuguese World Lecture Series: Maria Lawton

Dive deep into conversations about Lusophone heritage, Azorean traditions, and the inspirations behind Maria's award-winning series.

Maria Lawton, also known as the "Azorean Green Bean" due to her strong roots in the Azores and her passion for bringing Azorean culture and cuisine to the mainstream, will engage in a candid question and answer session moderated by Gilbert Perry, who serves on the Whaling Museum's Board of Trustees and Portuguese Advisory Committee.

Mr. Perry stated, "The New Bedford Whaling Museum has always been a hub for cultural immersion. Having Maria Lawton, a stalwart in promoting Lusophone culture, is highly anticipated. We believe this evening will enlighten all attendees and further strengthen the ties between our museum and the Lusophone community."

Doors open to the public at 5:30 PM, and the program starts promptly at 6:00 PM in the museum's Cook Memorial Theater. The program in the theater will be followed by a lite cocktail reception in the Jacobs Family Gallery. Admission is free, but registration is required.
