Phoebe Legere, an internationally recognized artist dedicated to nurturing and strengthening the artistic and musical spirit of New York, is proud to partner with Chashama and Chelsea Blick Art Store for the presentation of "Paint Brushes Not Guns."

This interdisciplinary performance and visual art spectacle will take place on July 1, 2023, at 4 pm, on 23rd St. in the window of Chelsea Blick Art Store. It promises to be an extraordinary experience for arts enthusiasts.

The "Phoebe Legere Window" curated and produced by Chashama and Chelsea Blick, is a testament to the Chashama/Blick/Legere commitment to creating inclusive and enriching experiences for the people of New York.

The "Phoebe Legere Window" features animatronic elements. The Statue of Liberty as a Goddess and water keeper, clutches a dripping paintbrush, with a darling immigrant child on her hip. The water in New York Harbor will have reached Liberty's elbow by 2050, so to illustrate the reality of climate change, an animatronic wave slowly covers the beautiful woman and the child. Legere is obsessed with the human figure. She drills down into the deep sources of our iconic Water Goddess of Welcome.

Come to the Phoebe Legere Window to see Legere's iconic characters moving and flying, using gears and mechanisms she built herself in her Chashama studio on 7th Avenue. Visit www. Phoebelegere.com to learn more.

The exhibition builds upon Legere's previous successful endeavors:
- Legere's international reputation lies in her award winning multi-disciplinary artworks held by major museums and collections,
- her ground-breaking original multi-media plays with music,
- 17 albums of original music with cover art by Legere,
- her lifetime of breaking down the barriers between art forms,
- her use of old master painting techniques fused with ancient Native American traditional iconography and foraged painting mediums.
- Support from the National Endowment for the Arts, NYSCA, Yaddo, and the NY Department of Cultural Affairs,

Legere was born to an artist mother and artist father, raised by a traditional Abenaki grandmother. "Singing, dancing and creating art are holy medicine, a way of connecting with our origins in the stars," says Legere.

The "Phoebe Legere Window" at Chelsea Blick will offer an array of multi-disciplinary art experiences. Attendees can expect a free, family-friendly event featuring champagne, chocolate, and a historic space where connections can thrive. It provides an engaging opportunity for people to explore and appreciate the beauty of art together, fostering a love for creativity and cultural exchange.

"I am thrilled to partner with Chelsea Blick and Chashama in presenting the "Phoebe Legere Window" said Phoebe Legere, President of the Foundation for New American Art, a 501c3 arts education nonprofit organization.

"Through this collaborative effort, we aim to showcase the power of art in bringing people together. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the artistic and musical spirit of New York City and to embrace the diverse expressions that make American art so vibrant."

The Phoebe Legere Window will take place at Chelsea Blick on July 1, 2023, at 4 pm, offering a range of visual images and experiences suitable for all interests and age groups. Admission is free, allowing everyone to experience the joy and wonder of the arts.
