Percussion Compassion

GLCER will kick off a series of programs on July 27, 2022, 5:00-7:00PM, at Vincent Kennelly Park in Perinton. This open house event is free to the public and guests will be invited to join in an evening of percussion and fun. This event will highlight an upcoming 8-week program series held at Perinton Community Center which will be open to children and adults with and without disabilities who register for the program. GCLER will partner with local teaching artists who are part of LatinX and will host sessions on Rhythm, Yoga, Baton Twirling, and Dance. The program is designed to ensure that people with disabilities have equitable, inclusive access to music, learn music and rhythmic abilities, developing hand-eye coordination and fine and gross motor abilities. Music education promotes self-esteem, teamwork skills, and developing one's sense of belonging and innate abilities and talents. The program will culminate in a final 90-minute show to highlight the skills participants have developed during the music sessions.
