Peoria Bach Festival 2024

The Peoria Bach Festival 2024 will be held from June 2-7 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1420 W. Moss Ave., Peoria, IL 61606. It will feature six concerts for all ages and two informative lectures. The festival will begin with an organ concert by POLLY BRECHT on Sunday, June 2 at 4:00 p.m. During the week of June 3 there will be two community concerts for both youth and adults and two chamber concerts at noon. The first chamber concert will be held on Thursday, June 6 and will feature the woodwinds of the Peoria Bach Festival Orchestra playing Baroque chamber music on period instruments. Featured performers will be S. BLAKE DUNCAN, baroque oboe, LISETTE KIELSON, recorder, and MICHAEL DICKER, baroque bassoon. The second chamber concert will be held on Friday, June 7 and will feature KATHERINE LEWIS, viola, and ADRIANA LAROSA RANSOM, cello, playing music for solo strings. On Wednesday, June 5 there will be a lecture/demonstration on Bach's 1724 Chorale Cantata Cycle which was composed 300 years ago. The festival will conclude with a concert on Friday, June 7 at 8:00 p.m. featuring the Peoria Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra conducted by JONATHAN WESSLER, TIM FREDSTROM, MARTIN DICKE, and JOHN JOST. Repertoire will include three cantatas including two that are a part of Bach's 1724 Chorale Cantata Cycle and the Orchestra Suite No. 3. Featured soloists will be COURTNEY HUFFMAN FRYE, soprano; ALISON MEUTH, mezzo-soprano; TREVOR MITCHELL, tenor; and GERARD SUNDBERG, baritone.
