Recorded in July 2022, the album features compositions rooted in gratitude, love for family and community, and a collective pursuit of justice and human dignity. The band's ensemble playing is characterized by polished warmth, with members displaying creative, passionate, and clear improvisation skills. Interarts performer, improviser, scholar, and vocalist Julia Ulehla opens the show with guitarist Aram Bajakian. Drawing from a diverse musical background encompassing opera, cabaret, folk traditions, and experimental genres, the performance will delve into song as a medium for storytelling across various musical styles. Ulehla and Aram Bajakian will bring together songs from composers such as Henry Purcell, Kurt Weill, Peggy Lee, Bob Dylan, PJ Harvey, and Roy Orbison, creating unique pairings that transcend traditional contexts. https://www.juliaulehla.com/
