By now thousands of fans from all over the greater Bay Area have experienced the historic SS Red Oak Victory WW II freighter as a most unique music venue: Our Swing dances, Jazz, Rock, and even Ukele concerts have made for great evenings of music, fun, food, dance … and great Bay views. Check it out!
Our next dinner music event promises to be even more exciting: Dr. Pascal Bokar’s high energy band will entertain you with their lively fusion of Jazz, Blues, and West African music. You’ll hear everything from classics such as Bye, Bye, Blackbird to his latest, chart-topping hit Let it Groove All Night Long.
You may choose to board the ship at 5:30 pm and enjoy a full sit-down dinner for $50, or just come and listen and dance to the music for $25. A cash bar will be open for beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks. And during the band’s breaks you can tour our historic ship to see the Captain's quarters, the Radio Room, and more.
If you like cultural history as much as you enjoy music then you’re in for an extra special treat when at 3:00 pm Dr. Pascal Bokar presents the deep story of how West African cultural influences created our own classic American sounds of the blues, jazz, and blue grass. This presentation will be held at the Richmond Museum of History which is just a short drive from the ship.
Come join us on September 14 and experience the Bay Area’s most unique music venue with Pascal Bokar’s exciting, innovative band starting on the Ship at 5:30 pm, preceded by his fascinating presentation at 3 pm at the Museum!
