The Nutcracker Ticket Sales

The Dance Arts Performing Company is performing a contemporary adaptation of the holiday classic The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Historic Missouri Theater in St. Joseph.

The dance group has adapted the classical ballet version of The Nutracker to include lyrical, tap, hip hop and other contemporary art forms. Artistic Director Marla Heeler believes adaptation is key to maintaining interest in the arts.

"If we always do the same thing as everyone else, there's no good reason for people to continue to show interest in what we have to offer," Ms Heeler said.

The company has performed a different show each of the past six years and departs from traditional dance forms to bring a new life in each show. Some, including last year's Alice in Wonderland, and previous shows like The Dark Fairy and American Quartet have been completely original works with original music and choreography by dancers from St. Joseph and surrounding communities.
