Voices of Oppressed

We gratefully and humbly acknowledge that we are gathering on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and SÉ™l'ílwÉ™taÊ”/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xÊ·mÉ™θkÊ·É™y'É™m (Musqueam) Nations.

There is clearly something very wrong with police forces on Turtle Island. We cannot pretend that everything is ok anymore and we cannot turn our heads away from the violence and the injustice that is taking place every single day. It is time to face the truth and it is time to move forward.

"Police Brutality in so called Canada is a Symptom of Structural Racism and Colonial Violence". This cycle of state sanctioned violence needs to stop. Colonization has to stop. Indigenous genocide needs to stop. The killing, marginalization and incarceration of BIPOC and marginalized People has to stop.

We respond to police brutality and systemic racism with a peaceful assembly and we demand the defunding, demilitarization, disarmament and eventually the Abolition of all state police. Our speakers will make the case on the injustice of the policing system and present police alternatives, educate about mutual aid, harm reduction, community safety and where to redirect funds. Come learn how defunding the police would help our communities thrive and especially uplift our most marginalized. Come join us and take a stand for Social Justice, Peace and Equity.

We are gathering with the permission of Indigenous representatives and under section 2c of the colonial constitution (the right to peacefully assemble).

All covid19 safety protocols to be respected, face covering and physical distancing required for attendance.
