A New Human Civilization - Free Zoom Event

The great spiritual traditions of humankind remind us that we all reside in the same Divine Reality and are one at the heart. We all have a deep heart-intuition of this, even if we haven't seen it lived out in the world around us. What would happen if we tried to live our lives guided by this remarkable truth?

Join us this Sunday as we explore this question in greater depth:

Heart and Feeling: Join us for an interactive consideration in the realm of heart and feeling as we explore what it is to live in this state of Prior Unity. We will move beyond mere talk and intellectual discussion, and experiment with practical ways to feel this state of oneness that every one of us has access to.

The World's Spiritual Traditions: We will consider what it means to feel part of humankind "first" and how this relates to our sense of identity, our thoughts and feelings, our cooperative relationships, and how we fit into the world. Music, art, and sacred texts from the world's spiritual traditions will provide a foundation for our work.

Your Personal Story: This event will be led by Hugh O'Doherty, who teaches leadership and conflict resolution at Harvard University's JFK School of Government. We will break out into small groups to ensure everyone has a chance to share their personal stories and participate in this sacred occasion.

2023 Pre-Parliament Event: this event is an official Pre-Parliament event, in anticipation of the largest interfaith gathering in the world, the Parliament of World Religions.

What is Prior Unity and how can it be the basis for A New Human Civilization?

The vision of Prior Unity is an extraordinary gift given by the World-Friend, Adi Da, to all of humankind. It is our feeling that Prior Unity, the unity that already exists at the heart of all, is a solid basis for building a new civilization.

Feeling that we are a part of humankind "first", before all of our other identities, is simpler than it seems. We have an intuition of this, and it is something our heart longs for, in the midst of the fragile and uncertain state of our world.

The terminally-ill remnants of our old civilization are disintegrating everywhere, with stark expressions of unhealed trauma from the past. The old civilization is dying because it is based on a false idea, the presumption of separation and exclusiveness: the naive presumption that "my group" is different from and better than other groups, as well as the naive presumption that "I" am separate from, and more important than, others.

Love, wisdom, mutual tolerance, and cooperation are the only possible foundation for a new and truly human civilization. Each of us must begin to stand for the entirety of humanity, the Heart that lives in all beings and is our true, shared identity.

This exploration of Prior Unity and the call to "Be Part of Humankind First" is offered as an interfaith gift to the Parliament and to the world. May we begin to apply the principles of Prior Unity in response to the world's pressing human challenges and crises and bring forth a new civilization based on the unity of humankind.
