"Cello Time!"

The NC Chamber Orchestra is pleased to present our splendid cellists in a performance of Vivaldi's Concerto to Two Celli. Ryan Graebert and Karl Ronnevik will be featured.

Dr. Ryan Graebert is, or has been, the Principal cellist of the Salisbury Symphony, the Assistant Principal of the Winston Salem Symphony, and a member of the Greensboro Symphony. In 2018, he performed the Dvorak Concerto with the Salisbury Symphony. He performed the Beethoven Triple in 2016 with the Danville Symphony. And, in 2009, he was an artist in residence with the Hilton Head Symphony performing as a concerto soloist and giving multiple chamber music recitals. Additionally, Dr. Graebert has given masterclasses, solo/lecture recitals, and chamber music recitals throughout the country.

Dr. Graebert holds a B.M. in Cello Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a M.M. in Cello Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a D.M.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was the recipient of the Excellence Fellowship. He has performed in masterclasses for Steven Isserlis, Zuill Bailey, and Michael Haber, and his mentors include Darrett Adkins, Dmitry Kousov, Peter Howard, Melissa Kraut, and Alexander Ezerman.

A dedicated teacher, Dr. Graebert is registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas in all 10 volumes of the Suzuki Cello School. He is the instructor of cello at High Point University, and he maintains a private studio in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Cellist Dr. Karl Ronnevik hails from west central Minnesota, where he grew up on a farm. He began cello at the age of ten and eventually pursued studies in music and business at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. After earning two graduate degrees in cello performance at The Hartt School in Connecticut, he moved to Greensboro in 2013 to pursue his doctorate.

As an orchestral cellist, chamber musician, and soloist, Dr. Ronnevik performs regularly throughout the region and has given concerts across the United States and Europe. He has shared the stage with a wide range of eminent musicians including Joshua Bell, Sting, The Eagles, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Harry Connick, Jr., Béla Fleck, Amy Grant, and Boyz II Men. Dr. Ronnevik maintains a teaching studio in Greensboro where he lives with his wife (a violist) and two children. He plays on a 2019 Jon van Kouwenhoven (Hartford, CT) cello.

The concert will also include the Little Suite by Carl Nielsen and the standard of string literature, Serenade for Strings by Tchaikovsky.
