Musical Colours Art Event

David Balilty is a multidisciplinary artist and musician whose art and music harmonize into a seamless existence.

The show will present his latest body of works, all made of pastel colours, a technique that David recently started to explore. The paintings refer to artistic traditions of Cubism and Naive Art, with a personal and contemporary interpretation.

As a musician, Balilty's works are strongly influenced by music, and the musical inspiration is highly visible in these paintings. 

Balilty inserts rhythm and movement into his paintings and creates combinations of colours, forms and sounds. The paintings depict various scenes of music, culture and fashion, mixing specific and real people and places with imaginary characters and moments.

The paintings present a plethora of small details and specific colour combinations that invite the spectator to linger over each painting and join the curious world he creates, revealing new secrets every time the onlooker peers within.

At the private view, to compliment the body of artistic work, Balilty will also perform with his London based group Sound of the Ground,featuring renowned keyboard player Charlie Stacey. The distinctive sound of afro jazz illuminates the atmosphere and internal rhythms of each picture creating a unique mix of vibrancy,,flavour and dynamic flow.

10% of all sales will be donated to the charity Little Village. Little Village collects great quality clothes,toys and kit for 0-5 kids and gets them to families in need.Nearest hub in Camden NW1.

BIOGRAPHY: 

David Balilty (b.1971,Jerusalem), is an artist and musician that lives and works in Tel Aviv and London, where he has previously exhibited in both solo and group shows.
He started to play percussion at a young age, and has performed globally with leading luminaries Dizzy Gillespie, Kirk Lightsey and Jerry Gonzales. 
He established the Afro-Jazz band Sound of the Ground ,an international group that fuses Afro-jazz,Moroccan traditional rhythms and world music with bases in London, Paris, New York and Tel Aviv.
