Karl Jenkins' 'The Armed Man' uses music from a variety of forms and cultures portraying conflict and the desire for unity. 'Chichester Psalms' by Leonard Bernstein is especially relevant in its Hebrew setting, appealing for harmony and peace. 'Adagio for Strings' by Samuel Barber reflects profound sadness and reflection.
The concert is conducted by Benedict Goodall and we are accompanied by the excellent Adderbury Ensemble, leader Charles Mutter. Our two exciting young soloists from Oxford are Benjamin Watkins (Baritone) and Joshua Dennis (Countertenor).
