MDTC Picnic and Fundraiser

The Marblehead Democratic Town Committee will be holding its Annual Picnic on Monday, September 14, 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Open to all, the picnic will be a virtual event this year due to Covid-19.

As always, there will be presentations by political VIPs, among them Sen. Elizabeth Warren; Sen. Ed Markey; Attorney General Maura Healey; Rep. Lori Ehrlich; Sen. Brendan Crighton; Gus Bickford, Chair of the MA Democratic Party; State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg. The program will also include a special video clip from VP Joe Biden, sent to the MDTC by Biden's Political Director.

Especially exciting this year will be performances by Crys Matthews, a young artist celebrated for promoting social justice through her music. An award-winning singer, songwriter, and social activist, she has been called "Today's Arlo Guthrie." The picnic program will also include hilarious video clips by author and comedian, Sarah Cooper, lip synching comments by Donald Trump.

All picnic guests will receive complimentary "Vote" masks to wear leading up to the November 3rd election.

"This will be a historically consequential election not just for our country but for the world at large," said Renee Keaney, MDTC Chair. "Speakers at our picnic will focus on how the Democratic Party plans to work harder than ever to safeguard democratic values and the  future of our country."

Proceeds from the picnic will help fund 2020 grassroots campaign activities, Democratic candidates, and scholarships for MHS students. Marking their 40th year in 2020, the Edwin L. Goldberg and Selma L. Goldberg Memorial Scholarships encourage Marblehead students interested in government, politics, and public service.
