Market Day Craft Fair in Fishkill

Market Day Crafts Fair at the Van Wyck Homestead Museum is a modern day take on old time markets. In the colonial era, market days were an opportunity for craftspeople, farmers, and friends to come together for fellowship and to stock up on needed goods. The Fishkill Historical Society will use funds raised from the fair for the upkeep of the c.1732 Van Wyck Homestead Museum. In addition to housing the Van Wyck Family for several generations, the homestead had a significant role during the Revolutionary War as it was the Officer's Headquarters for the Fishkill Supply Depot. The depot supported the operations of the Continental Army and the New York State militia throughout the Revolutionary War. Maintaining this historic site to tell Fishkill's story is the mission of the historical society.
The Fishkill Historical Society is 100% volunteer run educational organization. There are many volunteer opportunities at the museum that can focus on our community member's talents. Docents volunteer to welcome visitors to the museum or act as a tour guide to tell its story. There's a lot of upkeep needed at the museum including cleaning and maintenance work inside and outside of the museum. Support from the community is needed for the Van Wyck Homestead Museum to stand for another 300 years.
25 Arts and Crafts vendors including watercolor art, wooden gifts, resin art, pottery, vintage style purses, jewelry, beautifully painted planter pots, wreaths, skincare, aromatherapy, knit clothing, quilted bags, clothing, journals.
The Fishkill Historical Society's volunteers have concession stands will have lunch and dessert for visitors. Concessions include homemade soups, chili, baked goods, made-to-order apple fritters, and hot dogs. The Van Wyck Homestead Museum's gift shop will be out on the grounds with t-shirts, framed photos of Fishkill from the past, colonial era toys, gifts, and raffle tickets for a handmade queen-sized quilt and local restaurant gift cards.
Featured at Market Day will be a demonstration of Colonial Era woodworking and gunsmithing by Bruce Beard. The museum will also be open for tours during the Market Day event.
