Mac McRoy and The South Point Band play traditional Bluegrass gospel as they give praise to God. Mac has been playing in and around Bluegrass music for over 30 years and is well known for his song writing and high lonesome sound. Born in Blounts Creek, NC, he now lives in New Bern, NC, with his wife Mary. After a 24 year successful career of singing bluegrass and country music on radio and TV, Mac (affectionately called Big Mac) took a break from the entertainment business but he's back now performing at festivals, church specials, and on stage. He enjoys spreading the Gospel and keeping the music genre traditional. Mary McRoy compliments Mac's vocals with her high harmony and clean sound. Steven Clark adds upright bass and smooth baritone vocals with impeccable timing. Rounding out this ensemble is Mitch Mitchell, banjo extraordinaire. Mitch has been picking since he was fourteen and has played with some of the greats in the region and is known for his Scruggs style picking. Each member of this band has a wondrous story to tell and gives the Lord praise for their life and talents. Mac is no stranger to Oriental or to The Old Theater, as he played alongside several local musicians and performed on The Old Theater stage more than twenty years ago. Mac McRoy and The South Point Band bring a great combination of gospel music and Bluegrass to their listeners! Praiseworthy indeed!
