KNMA’s popular ‘City as Museum’ series comes alive again this season with a series of new adventurous urban walks. Participants can come and explore the natural world of a dry forest in the monsoon! Delhi's Ridge forest early in the rains, erupts with new life- annuals germinating, lianas spiralling up into the trees, papeehas calling, jackal pups mewing, termite queens whooshing out of tiny holes like smoke.

KNMA explores these urban environments through an artistic lens, with experts and practitioners from the arts. Aiming to create opportunities to make art accessible to all and discover art in nature. The museum always looks to provide lifelong learning opportunities, inclusive access and education through a variety of workshops. Aligning with Sustainable Development goals is a top priority at the museum. Sharing knowledge and raising awareness is a key part of KNMA’s outreach programs

About the Author:

Pradip has been walking here with his dogs for the last 40 years and is writing a journal-style book about all the fascinating things you can see on the 'Rutputty' Ridge.

Pradip Krishen gave up filmmaking(Massey Sahib; In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones; Electric Moon) in 1994 to dive into writing about and working with plants. He has written popular Tree books (Trees of Delhi; Jungle Trees of Central India) and spent the last 16 years restoring the natural ecology of arid places (mostly) in western Rajasthan.

City as Museum Series:

The programme reimagines the city as a museum with a life of its own and its visitor as the flâneur, a mindful passerby. Each walk will be unique in itself and led by an expert thoroughly knowledgeable in the subject matter and the specific urban site of concern. The series will locate and bring into discourse specific zones of engagement in Delhi and the National Capital Region that have served as a repository of local history and creative inspiration to a community of individual artists. Each walk will aim to revisit and engage with certain urban spaces as a means to claim a piece of the shared lived experience through an approach using oral dissemination and immersive participation.

The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art

Established by art collector Kiran Nadar in 2010, the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) is the first privately-funded museum of art exhibiting modern and contemporary works from India and the sub-continent. Located in New Delhi NCR, India’s capital city, KNMA hosts an ever-growing collection of artworks that both highlights a magnificent generation of 20th-century Indian painters from the post- Independence decades and engages with the different art practices of younger contemporaries. Sponsored by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, KNMA is focused on bridging the gap between art and the public and fostering a museum-going culture in India. KNMA aims to become a place for confluence, dialogue and collaboration through its curatorial initiatives and exhibitions, school and college workshops, art appreciation discourses, symposiums, and public programs.
