The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) proudly announces K-Art at Home: Yaloo, the inaugural virtual exhibition of the center’s 2020 Korean Media Art Series, featuring the vivid digital creations of eponymous Korean multimedia artist Yaloo (full name: Ji Yeon Lim). Yaloo will feature four of the artist's single channel video works: Sebum Coach, New Year Parade, New Millennium Workout Routine, and Korea Workout Routine.
As an artist, Yaloo explores contemporary consumer culture and symbolism in the context of her Asian cultural heritage, rooted in her experiences and attitude acquired while living abroad. She experiments with the infinite possibilities of multimedia by mixing various technology-based forms such as single channel video, media facades, projection mapping, digital textiles, and virtual reality applications. Yaloo utilizes technical and artistic skills to combine witty imagery and motion that invite viewers into the ultimate imaginative space. This self-titled exhibition also aims to provide a positive energy and comfort to those affected and exhausted by the effects of a global pandemic.
The 2020 Korean Media Art Series will offer cutting edge art to the public during a time of limited in-person events, highlighting a diversity of works by accomplished Korean multimedia artists throughout the remainder of the year. K-Art at Home: Yaloo will release online on September 4 at 6 p.m. and be viewable on the KCCDC website at http://washingtondc.korean-culture.org through September 24.
