Absolute Unit is a 16-piece psychedelic lounge orchestra, playing indescribable groove-oriented, original music, and maybe a few hits from the 70s - consisting of two drummers, two keyboard players, 3 laptop/ electronica performers, projection artist, bass player, guitarist and six horns.
The performance will take place at the Woodwards Atrium at Hastings and Abbott.
Since 1992, the Hard Rubber New Music Society, under Artistic Director and Founder John Korsrud, has grown to be one of Canada's most active and unpredictable producers of new music. Recipient of the Alcan Arts Award, the Society released its fifth recording, the Juno-nominated Iguana (2022), toured the Hard Rubber Orchestra across Canada and to Europe and produced large multi-media shows, Cantata for the King and The Ice Age, a new music ice show.
Absolute Unit takes place on the traditional and unceded territory of the xÊ·mÉθkÊ·Éy'Ém (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wu7mesh uxwumixw (Squamish), sÉl'ilw'ÉtaÊɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), QayQayt First Nations
