Learn how to use sensors and motors to observe and navigate through the world by building a line following robot that drives autonomously around a race track. No previous experience is necessary.
This class will touch on the design process for building your own robot from scratch, how tools such as Fusion 360 computer-aided design (CAD) can be utilized to rapidly fabricate components with 3D printing and laser cutting, a beginner-friendly introduction to Arduino and programming, a discussion and demonstration of various sensors and actuators that can be used in robotics, as well as a demonstration of several real robots to inspire your own creations.
Duration: 6 hours.
Price: $165.00 + GST. Includes a take-home robot valued at $70.
Project: Build hardware, assemble electronics, and program a line following robot.
Time: 10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Lunch is not included.
Prerequisites: None.
Ages: 15+
Required Equipment: Participants are required to bring their own laptop and charger with a USB Type-A port (or appropriate adapter). Participants must be computer literate, comfortable installing software packages, and managing files.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds or rescheduling ticket to a future date is available until 24 hours before the event by contacting me via email. Refunds cannot be provided with less than 24 hours notice but 50% of the ticket price can be credited towards a future event. No refunds or credit provided for no shows. Note that Eventbrite fees are non refundable, and will be deducted from the refund.
Accessibility: The first floor of the venue is wheelchair accessible up a small ramp (equivalent to 3 steps). However, the class will usually take place on the second floor which is not wheelchair accessible. Please contact me at least a week in advance and if availability permits, the class can be relocated to a wheelchair accessible location on the first floor.
