International Society of Addiction Medicine - ISAM 2026

DEAR FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES,

On behalf of the International Society of Addiction Medicine, the Netherlands Society of Addiction Medicine and NOVA Postgraduate Training Institute for Addiction Medicine,
we welcome you to the XXVIII ISAM Congress in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Central theme of the congress will be: "Improving addiction treatment outcome: tackling old and new challenges".

The ISAM Congress provides a great opportunity to meet
addiction specialists from all over the world and to exchange ideas and experiences.

Addiction research in the Netherlands has a long history, with several institutes that are connected to universities and treatment centers. In 2012 Addiction Medicine was recognized by the Royal Dutch Medical Association (KNMG) as a so-called profi el,
with a two-year full-time course.

Rotterdam, one of the largest ports in the world, is the second largest city in the Netherlands, home to over 670.000 inhabitants and 170 different nationalities.
It is the # 1 connected city among large European cities and can be reached easily by plane, high-speed rail, ferry or car.
The congress will take place in De Doelen, a few minutes walking from the railway station Rotterdam Centraal. Also within walking distance there are several hotels, one of which actually has a walkway to the congress venue.
