Be inspired and mark your calendar for 7:30 pm on Saturday, March 4th to celebrate with the Manassas Symphony Orchestra as they continue to celebrate their 30th anniversary season under the exceptional leadership and direction of conductor, James Villani.
This is a performance you don't want to miss. The MSO welcomes back the extraordinary American pianist Joseph Kingma who is internationally known and the recipient of multiple prestigious awards in piano competition. Professor Kingma is currently the Coordinator of the Keyboard Division and Assistant Professor of Piano at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He is recognized for both the unique beauty of his sound and the emotional intensity of his performances. The audience is in for a spellbinding evening.
Mr. Kingma will be featured playing Ludwig van Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor". Beethoven composed five grand piano concertos over a period of 25 years. His dynamic third piano concerto was composed around 1800 and was dedicated to Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia.
Beethoven himself was the soloist for the concerto's first performance around 1803 in Vienna. The theater's conductor turned pages for the composer during the concerto and he left an alarmed account of the experience: "I saw almost nothing but empty leaves; at the most, on one page or another, a few Egyptian hieroglyphs, wholly unintelligible to me, were scribbled down to serve as clues for him; for he played nearly all of the solo part from memory since, as was so often the case, he had not had time to set it all down on paper." Fortunately, for Joseph Kingma, Beethoven did finally write it down.
Mark the beginning of spring and bring your family for an evening of community and marvelous music with the Manassas Symphony Orchestra. Tickets for children and students are free for all Manassas Symphony concerts.
