About the Torch Club
The Fredericksburg Torch Club provides an opportunity for persons of different professions and disciplines to meet monthly for the interchange of professional knowledge, ideas, opinions, and fellowship. It is not a service society, and does not champion a specific cause. See more at Torch.org, the website for International Association of Torch Clubs, our parent organization.
About January's Speaker
Jim Stover has been flying airplanes for over fifty years. He flew solo for 6.9 hours within the first month of taking flying lessons. Since then, he has logged over 8000 hours of flight time. Jim was a flight instructor for twenty five years, and has logged more than 5,500 hours of flight instruction. He owned and operated JLS Flight School in Fredericksburg, Virginia, selling it to Shannon Airport before moving to teach at Stafford Airport. He is a certified flight instructor for airplanes, multi engine airplanes, and gliders, and has a seaplane rating. In 2005, he purchased an 1/2 ownership of a Cessna 182 airplane. Jim also currently owns a Piper Seminole, N8187H, that he still flies recreationally. In addition to flying, he enjoys being the self-appointed genealogist in his family and Crossfit training.
