We are pleased to announce and launch a very welcome invitation to attend the soon forthcoming IGU scientific event addressing critical issues related to health and healthcare, environmental changes and sustainable development after the covid-19 pandemic. Three IGU Commissions: Health and Environment Commission, Land Use/Land Cover Change Commission and the Local and Regional Development Commission, will organize this event held between 13 to 16 June 2023 in Bucharest and Danube Delta, Romania.

The conference aims to focus on a wide diversity of approaches and topics related to the geography of health and healthcare, theoretical and methodological perspectives on land use and environmental changes and impacts on local and regional development. It aims to explore the direct or indirect impacts of covid-19 on population health, healthcare and well-being, both negative or positive effects of the pandemic on the environment and land use, COVID-19 economic recovery measures and potential strategies for longer-term resilience and sustainable development.

The scientific event is intended for researchers, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and practitioners in geography, public health, environment, territorial planning, and other related fields.

Submissions of abstracts for oral presentations and posters addressing these issues as well as other issues related to theoretical, empirical, methodological or epistemological aspects of health geographies, environmental and land use changes, local and regional development challenges are welcomed.
