Art ignites history on March 12! See and experience powerful art created by young artists, and inspired by remarkable women from history. Many of these original artworks highlight the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, honor the unfinished legacy of the women’s suffrage movement, or highlight civically engaged women featured in the New Bedford Whaling Museum project "Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast." All pieces included in the IGNITE Youth Showcase are eligible for a cash award based on their relevance, creativity, and originality. IGNITE is presented by the New Bedford Whaling Museum in partnership with YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts, and is supported in part by Mass Humanities, through a grant that was made possible by Mass Cultural Council. The IGNITE Youth Showcase falls under the Mass Humanities initiative called "The Vote: A Statewide Conversation on Voting Rights," which includes events and organizations around the state.#artIGNITEShistory #LTWWomen
