Hope and Hounds Beach Walk 2022

Hope Housing, Training and Support and Helpful Hounds invite you and your four-legged chum to join us for HOPE and HOUNDS BEACH WALK 2022, kindly sponsored by the lovely folk at Natterjacks Vet, a sponsored dog walk from Bournemouth pier to Boscombe pier (and back again!) on Sunday Oct 16th, 10am to 2pm, raising funds to support two local charities making a difference in YOUR community! 

When: Sunday 16th October  - Start at 10.00 and finish any time before 14.00
Where: Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier and back (approx. 2 miles) 
Entry cost: £5 per pooch
Registration will be at Bournemouth Pier (you won't miss the gazebo, nor the staff in their sexy Hi Vis jackets).

TRANSPORT AND PARKING
There is car parking close to Bournemouth Pier in all the usual places- the sunshine will probably have left us by October so we should be good for parking galore. Obviously we don't control the prices but heigh-ho. As far as public transport goes, buses run from most places to the Square and you just need to walk through the Lower Gardens to the seafront at Bournemouth pier.

COMFORT
There are plenty of toilets on the route. Please bring any snacks / drinks that you may need: a good brew in a travel mug might be just the ticket. Participants are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear and be prepared for all weathers.  They should also carry any medication that may be required, for example an asthma inhaler.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
The walk will go ahead unless we are advised by the Seafront Staff that the weather is too bad. For last minute information, please call fundraising on 01202 294732.

SPONSORSHIP
WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO COLLECT SPONSORSHIP MONIES TO HELP US KEEP DOING WHAT WE DO! Sponsorship money can be collected through an online donation page (JustGiving, for example) or we can provide you with a more traditional paper sponsorship form - just email us at [email protected] and we'll send one over to you. Please ensure your donations are clearly referenced as HOPE and HOUNDS so we can distribute funds appropriately. 

THE DAY
There will be a medal for each pooch for completing the walk (and possibly even a doggy bag of treats) We will also have a trophy for the BEST DRESSED DOG. Interpret this however you wish, but we're thinking the fancier and dandier the better ;) We'll be there under a gazebo with our sponsors, Natterjacks Vet, who will be there to say hello and answer any questions you may have about pet health. Also there will be a Hope Soap table, offering our range of handmade soaps for you to peruse and - hopefully - purchase.

Money raised will go to Hope Housing, Training and Support, who help homeless people to change their lives for the better, and Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs who provide assistance dogs and training for assistance dogs and their owners.

All walk participants take place in the sponsored walk entirely at their own risk.  Hope Housing and Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs shall not be liable, or accept liability, for any accident, injury, loss or damage sustained as a consequence of participating in the event. 
Please remember: your dog is your responsibility. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and kept under control. Please bring your own poop bags. It is your responsibility for picking up any litter, carrying dog poop bags, disposing of them appropriately and keeping to the route of the walk and not walking on the road or on the beach. There will be plenty of 'poo bins' along the way, as you've probably noticed before whilst walking along our lovely prom.

Children younger than 18 are welcome but MUST be accompanied by an adult.
