Help Save Lives at the Fight Suicide Walkathon!

We, the Family Counseling Center of Greater Washington, are a non-profit organization, located in Vienna, VA. We will host the 'Fight Suicide' Walkathon on Saturday, August 21st at Lake Fairfax Park to raise awareness of suicide prevention methods and help save lives. We invite participants of all ages to the event of all ages to walk with us this beautiful path. 

We lose one life every 11 minutes here in the United States. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teenagers, as suicide rates exponentially rise across Virginia. Unfortunately, as a result of COVID-19, more people struggle with their emotional health, leading to stress, depression, and other mental illnesses. Among adolescents, suicide attempt rates have more than tripled.

And yet, most of us remain unaware that suicide is a national health crisis. Severe mental health cases frequently go unnoticed or untreated as a result of stigma and prejudice. We must offer a helping hand to those who cannot help themselves or seek treatment. We must take action to strengthen our community, to support those around us.
