Enjoy Cherokee Park car-free and celebrate the fall season on at Hayride on the Hill, a free family-friendly event presented by Rainbow Blossom Natural Food Markets, Olmsted Parks Conservancy, and Louisville Parks and Recreation on Sunday, October 27 from 3:30 – 6:30 P.M.
Attendees will enjoy a guided hayride around scenic loop Cherokee Park; live music from Brigid Kaelin, and Aaron Bibelhauser of Relic; and kid's activities, like Olmsted Parks Conservancy's Free Play experience, face painting and more.
Olmsted Parks Conservancy's Free Play experience provides a self-directed play space for children to build, create, and engage on their own terms using ordinary materials while trained facilitators supervise without interfering in the play process. As the kids turn cardboard boxes into forts, hay bales into obstacle courses, and chalk in to works of art, they are building creativity, teamwork, confidence and imagination.
Food (Burgers and Veggie Burgers) and beverage, including beer from Against the Grain, will be available to purchase. To raise money for park maintenance and operations, Olmsted Parks Conservancy will be selling limited-edition t-shirts of Cherokee Park, designed by CricketPress.
The Scenic Loop and various access points to it will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, and will reopen at 9 p.m. that same day. Access to Cherokee Golf Course will still be available via Alexander Road.
