Greenscape To Host Family-Friendly Tree Festival In Celebration of Jacksonville's Arbor Day

Organization to give away thousands of trees on first-come, first-served basis

Greenscape of Jacksonville, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching Jacksonville through planting, protecting and promoting trees, invites the Jacksonville community to the Third Annual "Greenscape Tree Festival." The family-focused green event will take place April 6th, Jacksonville's Official Arbor Day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jessie Ball Dupont Park, the home of Jacksonville's most famous tree –The Treaty Oak.

The not for profit Greenscape plans to give free trees to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. Trees will be in 3 gallon containers and will include the following species – Live Oak, Southern Magnolia, Dahoon Holly and Bald Cypress. Activities will include children's arts and crafts, and educational talks on trees and the environment. Specially selected vendors will be featured onsite. 

"The Greenscape Tree Festival and Tree Giveaway is so much more than a fun Saturday event - it's a chance to empower the public to assist in the reforestation of their neighborhoods," said Anna Dooley, Greenscape's Executive Director. "We recognize the value in having an abundance of green life in our city, especially after hurricanes and storms destroyed thousands of Jacksonville's trees. We hope families will learn something about their ability to impact the environment in a positive way while they enjoy the festivities."
