Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is proud to announce its 60th anniversary of mission and ministry. This congregation was formed in 1960 by the Mission Board of the American Lutheran Church (ALC) to meet the spiritual needs of the growing community of Bismarck. On June 1, 1960, Pastor Robert Lynne was called from his parish in Mott, ND to be its first pastor. In November of 1960, the first worship service was held, and the official dedication of Good Shepherd Lutheran church occurred on April 23, 1961. With a mission to “Share the Shepherd’s love with all of God’s children,” today the church consists of over 4000 members, 400 youth participants and is one of the largest congregations of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) in the western North Dakota Synod.
During the weekend of April 24 and 25, Good Shepherd kicks off their 60th celebration with fellowship. Guests will enjoy coffee and cupcakes. Memory boxes will be placed throughout the church where attendees can submit their memories and stories. A fun photo wall will also be provided allowing guests to create new memories to start the next 60 years.
