Epress yourself during the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s ART WEEK - offered just in time for February school vacation! Students in middle and high school - explore the Museum’s extensive collection of art and create your own works of art in a series of hands-on workshops. Workshops are FREE, but REGISTRATION is REQUIRED. Workshops include: Lighting the Way Hands-On Art; Conservation Jewelry; Drawing Skeletons; Ship Building 101.  The Lighting the Way workshop ties into IGNITE Youth Showcase of Art Inspired by Historic Women of the SouthCoast, coming up on March 12. Register for workshops at www.whalingmuseum.org.

All ages can explore a variety of art forms at Art Stations in the Museum’s Jacobs Family Gallery. Art Stations are completely free for everyone!

During the week, visitors can climb inside a life-size inflatable humpback whale to learn about whale anatomy; go “All Aboard the Lagoda,'' to travel the seas, interact with new cultures, learn the ropes of a whaleship; or take a Museum Highlights Tour.  These activities are free for Whaling Museum members and with regular paid admission to the Museum. See full schedule at www.whalingmuseum.org. ART WEEK programs are supported in part by a grant from the New Bedford Local Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
