The concert opens with two pieces performed by Mississippi Valley Orchestra, Ruth Gipps's "Song for Orchestra," followed by Sergei Prokofiev's formidable "Piano Concerto No. 2" featuring Taiwanese pianist and top prizewinner of international piano competitions, Fanya Lin.
The concert culminates in a collaborative performance of Requiem for the Living by modern American composer Dan Forrest, featuring Edina Chorale and Chorus Polaris. This stunning masterwork for full orchestra and large chorus reimagines the traditional Latin Requiem with a combination of new and traditional texts, lush harmonies, and memorable and moving melodies. This work is an exceptional piece incorporating contemporary musical preferences while honoring the great Requiems of the past.
This is a one day only performance on April 2nd at 3:00pm, and should not be missed. A livestream of this concert will be available for viewing online for 24 hours following the event. Tickets for in-person and livestream viewing are available at edinachorale.org.
