E8 Art and Craft Trail, June 10th / 11th 2023, 11am-5pm
Following the resounding success of the inaugural event in December, the E8 Art and Craft Trail is back in June with a summer weekend of open homes and studios. More than 40 artists and makers at 18 different E8 locations will welcome you in to take a look at their work, chat to them about their practice, and maybe even treat yourself!
Guided by an interactive map on the trail website, you'll be able to stroll from studio to studio, checking out the details of the artists on their individual web pages as you go. Fine art, illustration, ceramics, jewellery and more; the Trail invites you to spend some happy hours browsing and meeting the artists who live and work in the neighbourhood.
Particularly exciting is the new addition of a group show at 195 Mare St, a beautiful but neglected 17th century house, whose new owners are hosting 15 artists for the June Trail before beginning renovations later in the year. The Trail will also include art work in the Cock Tavern on Mare St, ideal for a refreshment stop along the way, and creative activities for children in the art room at Halley House School on Arcola St.
Organisers Jim Boddington (ceramicist), Jane Smith (illustrator) and Hedy Parry-Davies (fine artist) say: "We are really thrilled to be part of the long tradition of art and craft in this part of Hackney. Drawing together this wonderful community of local creative people for a such a special community arts event is something we're really proud of".
What better way to spend a London summer weekend! Get it in your calendar now.
