Photographs help us make sense of the world around us. Through images, we examine and negotiate how we practice democracy in daily life, grapple with complex power structures, document the past, and envision the future.
Join CatchLight on Friday, November 1st for a reception celebrating the launch of our Democracy in Focus print sale. Hear from artist Alexandra Bell, organizer Aimee Allison, and collector Wayee Chu to discover how they consider aspects of democracy-like justice, freedom, legitimacy, and power-through photography.
The event is the kick-off for a 10-day online print sale, featuring photos by Wesaam Al-Badry, Andrea Bruce, Laura Morton, Tasneem Alsultan, Shahidul Alam, Carlos Javier Ortiz, Griselda San Martin, Ken Light, Alpana Aras-King, Tomas van Houtryve, Sarah Blesener, and others. Proceeds from the sale will be split evenly between contributing artists and CatchLight’s programs to support visual storytelling.
The evening will include a brief program beginning at 7 pm, shared bites, and an open bar.
