How do I tell if my child is at risk of literacy difficulty and early intervention is required? Do children with early literacy difficulties experience greater anxiety than their peers? What to do if a child refuses to read or has poor reading skills?
Parents and professionals working with preschoolers can gain practical insights to the above topics and more. Organised annually by the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS), the DAS Preschool Seminar is back in a physical format this year to help parents and educators of preschool children acquire effective strategies to support their social-emotional, language, physical and cognitive development.
Research has shown that delay in supporting preschoolers struggling with basic literacy may have an impact on their lifelong learning. The ability of educators and parents in identifying the signs and seeking for early intervention will make a big difference in enabling preschoolers to smoothly transition to formal education and achieve their full potential.
Speakers comprise a specialist psychologist, a research scientist, early intervention therapists, educational therapists and occupational therapists from DAS, DAS Academy, National Institute of Education (NIE), KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, AWWA and NTUC First Campus.
