Shylah Ray Sunshine is an award-nominated and influential Singer/Songwriter, Musician, Mother and professional Vocal Coach. Originally from Canada, Shylah Ray stands proudly, a First Nations Algonquin Ceremonialist living in California and has been revered as an incredibly skilled vocalist and her music has been shared all over the world. Porangui in Concert!
World Soul Music - Improvisational Live Looping

Join us for this special journey of ancestral rhythm, dance, and healing sound at this intentionally curated event at the MSA Annex.

We will open the evening with a "Music is Medicine" body music and vocal activation workshop with Porangui. This is open to all ages and levels, and is held in a playful and safe container to explore the first instrument - ourselves!

Following, the music will open with intentional ceremony and drop into deep earthy grooves as Porangui sonically guides us through waves of ecstatic movement and blissful stillness. His partner, Ashley Klein, will sprinkle the musical set with some vocal guidance, visualizations, and meditations inviting our prayers and intentions into our dance.

About Porangui :

Reared among the three cultures of Brazil, Mexico and the U.S., Porangui was steeped in various traditional forms of music, healing and ceremony since birth. Drawing from his cross-cultural background and ethnomusicology training at Duke University, Porangui has over twenty years of international work experience as an artist, musician, educator, filmmaker, consultant and therapist, utilizing the healing properties of sound and movement to foster our individual and collective well being.

As a live looping artist and one-man orchestra Porangui weaves ancestral songs and indigenous rhythms from around the globe. Creating his performances from scratch using looping technology, Porangui's live grooves range from meditative to dance party, moving the body, lifting the spirit, and transcending the divide between performer and audience.
