Many of the Connecticut soldiers who fought at Gettysburg left detailed, first-hand accounts of the bloody Civil War battle. A local historian will highlight some of their stories in a special program at the Seymour Historical Society. Author and independent historian Carolyn Ivanoff has spent several years researching the 17th Connecticut Infantry, which was formed in Bridgeport in 1862 and included solders from across the region. She recently published a book based on their experiences, called "They Fought at Gettysburg." In this program, Ivanoff says she’ll describe what the soldiers "saw, felt and thought on the battlefield. These are the words of those who lived through the trauma of combat and survived to write about it."
