Congo Square ATX 2020 Festival: Bringing the African Diaspora to Austin

Congo Square ATX brings culture to the stage. This event spotlights Indigenous artists and highlights community cultural programs that are providing valuable platforms of diverse cultural engagement for youth and adults.

Congo Square ATX is a unique live music event in that we cater to families, and provide an entertainment platform that is FREE. As a live music event, Congo Square ATX provides a taste of what makes Austin so cool. The artistic lineup of this year’s event will feature performers from Africa, Colombia, and the African Diaspora.

The 2020 Festival Lineup:
11:00 -12:00 Salute to Ancestors Altar and Community Drum Circle with Gideon Alorwoyie of Ghana
12:15 - 1:00 Capoeira Luanda San Antonio
1:15 - 2:00 Songhai Bamboo Roots Association
2:15 - 3:00 Soul Tree Collective
3:15 - 4:15 Afrikania Dance Troupe
4:30 - 5:10 Wache
5:30 - 6:30 Bramaya
6:45 - 8:00 Roland and The Roots Riddim

The beauty of the African Diaspora is that it provides answers to the unanswered questions for African Americans regarding their true cultural heritage. But, the magic of the African Diaspora is that the music and dance of these cultures build a bridge to others creating community and restoring our sense of Humanity. This is why the 4th Annual Congo Square ATX Festival is not to be missed. No other live music event in the Austin area holds an intention for diverse cultural understanding and the renewal of our sense of Humanity.

Congo Square ATX is sponsored by DRUM the Program, Inc. a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving Texas and Alabama. In the State of Texas DRUM the Program operates as a 501c3 also known as DRUM the Program Initiative.
