Hidden within our landscape is the Native American concept of sacred geography. Our place names and many popular locations carry this concept forward to the present. Indigenous groups quietly maintain some of the sites while they vocally call to preserve others from the bulldozer. This lecture will introduce some of the national and local sacred geography concepts and describe a few local sacred sites people can visit.

Kimberley Connors holds an MA in archaeology from Harvard University. She founded Archaeology Outreach. Her passion is helping people see beyond the glare of the present, to the hidden landscape of the past. Kimberley is the former chair of the Acton Historical Commission. Her research on the Pine Hawk site, an Archaic site in South Acton (7,000-3,000 BP), has allowed her to put together the remaining bits of an ancient landscape. She offers Hidden History Hikes and lectures for adults and her school programs reach thousands of students across the Commonwealth each year.
