Local podcast Common Good Conversations is creating deeper narratives at the intersection of faith and politics for the common good in West Michigan by hosting a public event featuring Democratic and Republican candidates committed to serving all of Ottawa County's residents in 2024.
Common Good Conversations is a weekly podcast that discusses local faith and politics with community leaders by being curious, nuanced, grace-filled, and humorous. The podcast is hosted by Nick Brock, Executive Director of Vote Common Good-West Michigan. Vote Common Good-West Michigan is a nonprofit inspiring, energizing, and mobilizing people of faith in West Michigan to make the common good their voting criteria.
The event will feature candidates Chris Kleinjans and Mark Northrup.
Chris Kleinjans is the Democratic candidate selected to run against Commissioner Lucy Ebel in the District 2 county commissioner recall election scheduled to take place on May 7, 2024. Chris is a US Navy veteran, has a 25-year history of working in the nonprofit sector, and is committed to good governance, transparency in government, and public health.
Mark Northrup is the Republican candidate running against incumbent Commissioner and Board Chair Joe Moss in the District 5 Republican Primary scheduled to take place on August 6, 2024. Mark is a US Coast Guard veteran, is the 3-term mayor of Hudsonville, and seeks to lead a professional county commission, avoid polarized politics, and focus on advancing the county economically.
The live recording event will take place this Sunday, March 24 at Park Theater in Holland from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Candidate meet and greet to follow until 8 pm. The event is free and more details can be found here.
