Saturday, October 29th, is National Drug Take Back Day. Kiwanis of Washington Crossing - Yardley reminds you to Clean Your Cabinets of any expired medicines, especially opioids or other addictive drugs. In Bucks County alone, there were 779 reported opioid overdoses in 2021. Many of the victims of this tragedy started using drugs like Vicodin or Percocet, that were legally prescribed by a caregiver, but got in the wrong hands. Those pills were frequently sitting on the shelf of a medicine cabinet, years later, after they were no longer needed to address pain from a medical procedure. A guest to your house might be looking in your cabinet for these unwanted, expired medicines. Drug Take Back is a nationally run program and we ask that all residents in our community take a few minutes to go through their medicine cabinets and gather any expired medicines. Please take them to your local police station on October 29th, from 10 AM to 2 PM, where receptacles are waiting to properly dispose of these drugs. We all need to do our part to stem the tide of drug addiction in our community. Please take a few minutes to do your share. You may be saving a life. Thank you for your support of this program!
