Hello, everyone. My name is Ciara, and I'm twenty years old.

I am currently a second-year Sociology student at UEA, and I will be volunteering and fundraising for an incredible charity.

Dig-Deep (AFRICA) is an award-winning non-profit charity founded in 2007 by a collaboration between Kenyan women's rights activist and United Nations (UN) Person of the Year Agnes Pareyo. Their registered charity number is 114875.

They believe that everyone has a fundamental right to clean water, safe toilets and good hygiene through the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.

The climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak and the world's highest freestanding mountain, will raise money for one million people in Bomet County, Kenya.

It is one of the most undeserved and least resourced areas of Tanzania.

2 out of 3 people don't have clean water, over half don't have safe toilets and children don't have access to basic hygiene education.

Your support WILL save lives, improve education, empower women and girls and strengthen livelihoods.

This will be over ten days, including travel time and staying at the hostel before and afterwards.

I must raise £2990 by the 15th June in order to take on this challenge.

50% goes directly to accelerating access to water, sanitation, and good hygiene and 50% goes towards my expedition costs with African Scenic Safaris, which is approved as ethical by the Kilimanjaro Responsible Trekking Organisation (KRTO).

Please see Dig Deep's website for more information and the specific costs that are included in this: www.digdeep.org.uk

This is a BIG task, but I would really appreciate it if readers of the Yarmouth Mercury donated towards my fundraising page: https://dig-deep.enthuse.com/pf/ciara-gray/post/10598602 or scan the QR code!

Even if you can only donate £1, that would be amazing! All donations will go directly to this fundraiser.

Additionally, can everyone please tell their family, friends, colleagues and other contacts/groups/networks about my fundraiser and encourage them to donate, and also share my post on Instagram and to other social media platforms, which is pinned to my profile, my account is @scotty_ciara

I will be sharing regular updates of my fundraising events and when significant targets have been met!

Not to mention, I will be taking photos and videos (wherever possible) of the climb itself so feel free to follow me and turn post notifications on so you don't miss my journey to the summit of Kili!

Thank you everyone!! :)
