Going back to the fable's roots as a classic Victorian ghost story, there will be scares, laughs and heart-breaks along the way, in this adaptation by veteran writer Sophie Flack, directed by Artistic Associate Kerren Garner originally staged in 2019.
Suitable for ages 11+
"Lantern Light's USP is the ability to fit venue and show, and St Nicholas' Church, probably Brighton's oldest building, is a terrific venue. Eerie sound and lighting design by Dan Skelt highlight rood screen, dais, long aisles and real candlelight, with London fog drifting about the ivy-wreathed stone pillars creating atmosphere, visuals and mood which a theatre just can't offer." Phillipa Hammond, Sussex Playwrights
"This fantastic performance really captures the spirit and morals of Dickens' book. The values of looking after the needy and vulnerable are just as relevant today as they were in 1843 and Lantern Light's production captivated our students' hearts and minds. The production is true to the book and makes clever use of an engaging narrator to thread the narrative together. The quality of the acting was superb and simply but effectively put together. Thank you for putting on this show!" Ruth Nilsson, Subject Leader for English Davison School for Girls
