Each session is devoted to a single topic taken from Mark's gospel. The aim is to answer the most important questions about life and how you (or anyone) can gain trust in Jesus. Jesus' nature, character, and works come alive in Mark's gospel. For example, this upcoming Wednesday, the topic is sin. Despite the ease by which Jesus forgave the paralytic (Mark 2:5), Jesus' public forgiveness is best understood as a defense for the seriousness of sin (Mark 2:1–2; 6–12a; 12b). Jesus' priority of forgiving sin over healing established His divine authority to save whom He will and its free offer to anyone who comes to Him in repentance and believes in the gospel (Mark 1:14–15; Mark 2:2b). The alternative is hell because humanity stands condemned (See Mark 9). The serious of sin demands front-page news, not an editorial back page. What do I mean? Mark's book is a whooper to read! It stirs the most profound feelings in those who read and understand its implications (e.g., Mark 2:6 vs. Mark 9). But even though it did that in the 1st century, it is not front-page news or (even) an editorial today (21st century). Is Mark a romantic fantasy for the editorial page or reality and truth for the front-page? Come and find out for yourselves. Its the best news you've ever heard.
