After the successful February 18th landing of the Perseverance rover on Mars, Exploratorium scientist Isabel Hawkins and host Ron Hipschman catch up with our plucky Martian companion and tell you all about what's happening on the red planet. Where has Perseverance been? What has it found? Where is it going? Tune in and space out.

Isabel Hawkins is a bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural Latinx woman born and raised in Córdoba, Argentina. Dr. Hawkins received her PhD in astronomy at the University of California, Los Angeles and spent twenty years as a researcher at UC Berkeley’s Space Sciences Laboratory, working on various NASA satellites. She joined the Exploratorium in 2009 to work on cultural astronomy projects, including live webcasts in English and Spanish from Chichén Itzá, Yucatán, México about Maya astronomy and a website featuring the astronomical foundations of Polynesian non-instrument navigation. She is a Fulbright US Global Scholar 2018-2021 and her interests include competitive Latin dance and the study of indigenous languages.

Since joining the Exploratorium in 1971, Ron Hipschman has worked as an exhibit developer, author, teacher, and webcast host. He currently works on the Exploratorium’s Environmental Initiative, implementing and maintaining a collection of environmental monitoring sensors and developing visualizations for the Fisher Bay Observatory Gallery’s super-resolution media wall. Ron also hosts two monthly lecture series, Full-Spectrum Science and Tales from the Periodic Table.
