Center Line Independence Festival And Cruisin' 53

Center Line Independence Festival, presented by the Center Line Downtown Development Authority, will feature three themed days with live music: "Flashback Friday", June 4, 2021, beginning at 3 p.m., will feature tribute bands Armageddon (Def Leppard), Capture Detroit (Journey) and War Machine (Kiss); Saddle Up Saturday, June 5, 2021, beginning at 11:00 a.m., will feature country music performances by, Balduck Mountain Ramblers, Bernadette Kathryn and the Lonely Days Band, Daniel Harrison and the $2 Highway and Alan Turner and the Steel Horse Band; Spot Light Sunday, June 6, 2021, beginning at 11:00 a.m., will feature Katmandu (Bob Seger tribute band), Teen Angels and Peacemakers. There will also be a Center Line Lions Club Pancake Breakfast ($6.00 all you can eat); beer and liquor tent, food, arts and crafts, helicopter rides (Saturday and Sunday), Inflatables for the little ones, train rides, mechanical bull (Saturday), an adult soft-ball tournament (Saturday), pony barn, petting zoo, exotic birds (Sunday), variety dog show (Sunday), meet the machines (Sunday), and Championship Wrestling (Sunday); and includes one of the Metro-Detroit's largest and most popular fireworks display on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at dusk. The festival will also highlight a four day carnival on Van Dyke Avenue (M-53), June 3-6, 2021 at Engleman St. (N. of 10 Mile Rd.), presented by T.J. Schmidt and Company. For its second year (cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions), Cruisin' 53 presented by the Warren Community Foundation, Center Line DDA, Warren Area Chamber of Commerce and the cities of Center Line and Warren, will celebrate it's second year, highlighting more than 200 classic car show at the City Center Plaza located at the northwest corner of 10 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue (M-53), a classic car parade led by Mayor Robert Binson of Center Line and Mayor James R. Fouts of Warren, south to 8 Mile Rd. and then north to 14 Mile Road, through the cities of Warren and Center. The day will be filled with activities for all at three locations along M-53; Warren Civic Center (N. of 12 Mile Road across from the GM Tech Center), Civic Center South (North of 9 Mile Road) and at the Cruisin' 53 Headquarters (Northwest corner of 10 Mile and M-53). Civic Center South will highlighted a Family Fair, while Civic Center Warren will highlight live bands and a beer tent; and the Cruisin' 53 HQ location will highlight a car show, live bands and local restaurant and business eats. Cruisin' 53 will start off with the 4th Annual Run Warren 5k, which will start at the Warren Civic Center and end in Center Line at Memorial Park. Run Warren 5k will start registration of runners at 8:00 a.m. with a 9:00 a.m. start. Registrants can go to www.runwarren.com for registration and more information. After the run/walk, participants and the public can enjoy the Center Line Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at Center Line's Memorial Parks and Recreation building for only $6.00, all you can eat. Registration for cruisers will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the City Center Plaza in Center Line, and cruising will run throughout the day, following a classic car parade and car show. At 4:00 p.m., cash prizes and certificates will be awarded in both Stock and Modified categories, and Best in Show. Following the day's events, the City of Center Line fireworks display can be see from throughout the communities of Warren and Center Line, promptly at dusk.
